EarthLink is lame. Really f'ing lame. They have some phantom DNS entries floating around (for MONTHS!) that keep returning pop.earthlink.net as a server in the MX set. This is what is causing the error below. Everyone on the net has been bitching to EarthLink and they apparently can’t figure it out.

So here’s the hack that everyone has been doing:

Place this in your hosts file. It forces pop.earthlink.net to point to mx1.earthlink.net (as of 7/6/04 that is).

The problem:

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
